FAQs
1. How remote is the hotel in the Tangjiahe Nature Reserve on this trip?
The accommodation in the Tangjiahe Nature Reserve is located in the middle of the mountainous temperate forest in northern Sichuan. The closest community is roughly half an hour's drive and will require the assistance of our chartered van. The hotel itself is very nice and provides a relaxing place for us to begin our search for animals in the surrounding wilderness.
2. What are the chances we will see wild Red Panda on this trip?
During our visit to the natural reserve in Labahe, we will have an especially good chance of spotting a red panda (depending on weather conditions). Labahe is considered one of the best places in the world to find these animals, our team of guides had conducted lots of trips to this area and have extensive knowledge about the wildlife there. In our past trips, our clients had taken very good photos of the wild red panda with us.
3. Will we see wild pandas during this tour?
While Sichuan is famed as a province accommodating the most substantial portion of the wild panda population (80%), it should be noted that spotting a wild panda is quite slim due to the small population and unique lifestyle of pandas mostly living inside the bamboo forest. Although visitors and rangers report viewing pandas in the Tangjiahe Nature Reserve almost every year, it's really hard to predict how a particular trip will go. For us, we will do our best to show you all the possible attractions we see inside this panda habitat and make your trip full of wonderful memories. Pandas live in the place we are going to visit, and we just enjoy everything we have blessed to see there.
4. Which indigenous cultures can we expect to encounter on this tour?
As we move into the western and northern reaches of Sichuan and throughout Qinghai, you are certain to be surprised by the sudden shift in the local cultural aesthetic. These areas are occupied by predominantly Tibetan communities that range from agricultural townships to families of nomads living in tents on the prairie.
5. How does the ecosystem/wildlife differ between Sichuan and Qinghai?
Many of the regions we will visit can be classified into two biomes: highland prairies and mountainous temperate forests. While we travel through the panda habitats in Sichuan, most of the local ecosystems will be typical of the temperate forests, while the majority of Qinghai will consist of prairies. One exception to this general description will be when we visit Tibetan communities in western Sichuan. These townships are also located in high-altitude grasslands, like Qinghai. In the prairies, many of the animals inhabit here including Wild Yak, Tibetan Gazelle, and Tibetan Antelope. During our time in Sichuan, we can expect to see Tibetan Macaque, Sichuan Takin and perhaps even Red Panda and Golden Snub-nosed Monkey.
6. I’ve heard the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is very high in elevation, should I be worried about altitude sickness?
While the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is high in elevation, our team is especially experienced in guiding foreign tourists through these regions. We have planned this itinerary to give you a gradual acclimation period to get used to the elevation. However, if you have any trouble with the altitude, please talk to us for specific suggestions.
7. Are any of these animals dangerous?
Animals like Wild Yak, Wolf and Brown Bear can pose a real threat to guests, but our guides are experienced at keeping a safe distance between you and any animals we encounter. In most cases, we will also be watching these animals from the safe vantage of a van.
8. Will there be opportunities to purchase local souvenirs during this tour?
As we travel through Tibetan communities, there will be many opportunities to purchase keepsakes from local vendors. Our guides are happy to help.
9. If I am particularly interested in finding birds, is there a way for me to request a specialist as a guide?
In addition to our experts specializing in mammals, we have many birding experts on the team. If finding birds is your priority, please let us know in advance.

Testimonials
The best travel company I have ever worked with.
Where to begin? I am an international tour leader. This team is our partner company, and for the last 5 years, they have proved time and time again to be by far the best, most meticulous, detail-oriented, experienced, and honest company I have ever encountered. These guys get it- travel is an art. They are focused on the experience, not the profit, and this is very rare in China. The founder, Philip, is one of the top birders and nature experts in Sichuan, and is well respected throughout the province and beyond for all of his efforts to support local culture and conservation of wildlife. He is from a remote Tibetan region and understands how to operate in the wild, unexplored regions of China- the real China. He is an excellent teacher and judge of character and has built an amazing team of loyal guides who cannot be topped. If you travel with these guys, you have made a wise decision.

Wildlife of Tranquility.
We really had a nice Safari trip in Qinghai and Yushu. Our itinerary included beautiful landscape, stunning scenery and animals in Qinghai plateau. We enjoyed and learnt a lot from our professional guide Philip and his driver. They are both very reliable and trustworthy. We only need to let Philip noticed about our special points of interest, and he would did his best for us. The journey was absolutely wonderful! The scenery is fabulous and the wildlife is amazing. We are lucky enough to meet different species of animals, such as Tibetan Antelope and Tibetan Gazelle as well as various kind of birds throughout this trip.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Philip and Lily again for the their expertee and value add-in to this special trip. Philip has even gladly share some photography tips and his beautifully taken pictures with us. These pictures definitely highlighted our valuable happy memory.
