【Panda Volunteer】: For those who are nature enthusiasts and panda lovers, there is no better opportunity to get a up close and personal experience than a panda volunteer program. During this itinerary, you will be taken to the enclosure of a captive panda at one of Sichuan’s panda research centers to participate in these animal’s daily maintenance and care. Activities include cleaning the panda’s enclosure and preparing food to be hand fed to a panda.

【Family Cooking】: A culinary experience with a local Chinese family. The cuisine of Sichuan providence is renowned for being some of China’s most delicious food. During this activity, you will visit a nearby food market here in Chengdu to be led in collecting the necessary ingredients to prepare a wide assortment of authentic dishes. By the end of this tour, you will be able to prepare these dishes yourself and what is more, you will understand the cultural meaning behind food here in China. 

【Cooking at Culingary School】: A short cooking course in a formal training setting. This activity features a licensed chef who will instruct you in preparing typical Chinese dishes. Through this regimented course, you will understand the basics of food preparation, menu planning and kitchen management. Meanwhile you will be exposed to the traditional culture surrounding these dishes. After leaving this course, you’ll be able to replicate these recipes with ease.

【Mahjong Lessons】:  One China’s most cherished pass time activities, mahjong has a long interesting history. In this activity, you will be shown the playing style that is specific to Sichuan. Chengdu is known for its mahjong culture and you’ll find there are many venues to play this game. 

【Tea Drinking】:  Chengdu is considered one of China’s greatest cities for tea culture. For those interested in trying tea in an authentic setting, Chengdu is populated with hundreds of tea houses. Used for medicinal purposes in early times. tea-houses abound in towns and market villages in the south of China and provide elderly retirees with the locales to meet and chat over a cup of tea. Tea culture is an important part of Chinese traditional culture, which covers a wide field and is rich in content. It not only has the embodiment of spiritual civilization, but also the extension of ideological form. 

【JiayangSteamTrain】:A remnant of an older time, a ride on an operational steam train is the ideal way to have intimate connection to a bygone era. The steam train in Jiayang is one of the last of its kind; a ‘living fossil of industrial revolution’.

【Mining Experience】:Jiayang National Mining Museum in Bajiaogou Town is the branch of China Coal Museum and keeps over 600 exhibits. After learning more about China’s rich mining history, tourist can experience the joy of artificial mining.
