Qinghai lake is located in the northeast of the Qinghai-tibet Plateau.Between 36°32' -- 37°15' n latitude and 99°36' -- 100°47' e longitude. At ancient times, Qinghai Lake was called “Blue sea” for its vastness and clearness. Around the lake is the an endless stretch of picturesque grasslands, rapes and wheat fields. Countless sheep, cattle and horses are grazinggraze under the white cloud-dotted blue sky.

Every visitor will be marveled at how clear the water in Qinghai Lake is. That is because rivers flow into Qinghai Lake is mostly supplied by the melting water from the snowy mountains. Compared to the other fresh water lakes which are supplied by rainfall or rivers with a lot of sand, Qinghai Lake is much more clearer.
 
Canola flower sea in Qinghai
Qinghai lake Canola flower is the last blooming Canola flower in China, is also the longest Canola flower sea, flowering from June to October, as long as 5 months. At that time, Qinghai Lake has a magnificent scenery of Canola flower sea. Visitors are like walking in paintings.

Bird island
Qinghai lake bird island is a top bird reserves in China. Although it is temporarily closed due to the ecological environment protection of Qinghai lake, tens of thousands of birds can still be seen in large and small bird habitats in Qinghai lake area like Black-necked Crane bareheaded goose,brown-headed gull, cormorant, sea gull flock.It is the home to many endangered bird species especially migratory birds fly from overseas.
