Location
Jiuzhai Valley is located in the middle and south of Jiuzhaigou County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, northwestern Sichuan Province. It is 2000-4300 meters above sea level. It is named Jiuzhaigou because there are 9 Tibetan villages in the ditch. Jiuzhaigou is 435 kilometers from Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province. There are direct flights to Jiuzhaigou from Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing,Shanghai,Guangzhou,Xi’an and Zhangjiajie etc..
Water is the soul of Jiuzhai Valley, and Haizi (lake) in Jiuzhaigou is its representative. Lakes in Jiuzhai is clear all year round, and it has different colors with the change of light and season. There are more than a hundred lakes connected by gorgeous waterfalls.
Multi-layer waterfalls
Jiuzhaigou is the world of water and also the kingdom of waterfalls. All the waterfalls rushed out of the dense forest. Here is the Noriland Fall, which is the widest in China. It hangs down on the high green rocks and looks like a huge curtain falling in the air, which is magnificent. Some waterfalls roared from the mountains and rocks, and after several ups and downs, they formed stacked waterfalls, like a group of silver dragons leaping. When the sun is shining, and often beautiful rainbows will appear.
Colorful forests
The forest covers more than half the area of the Jiuzhai Valley area. There are more than 2,000 species of plants in the forest. Thick moss accumulates on the woodland, and the traces of birds and beasts are scattered. The 30,000 hectares of virgin forest will show different features as the seasons change.
Snowy peaks
Every winter, Jiuzhai Valleys become particularly quiet, like poetic painting.Mountain peaks are covered with white snow and reflect on the ever mirror-like lakes.
Tibetan culture
Tibetan customs, architectures and legends make Jiuzhaigou even more beautiful and mysterious. The Tibetan villagers here are very religious Bonism believers.
Blue ice
In winter time, huge ice mantles are hung on the steep rock walls. The ice will be seen in blue because of light scattering. Its formation is due to that in the ice cubes, and the short blue light wavelengths are scattered, making the ice appear blue. Blue ice only can be seen over ten days per year.

Five Flower Lake
·The Five Flower Lake is colorful due to the tufa deposits on the seabed, and reflections of colorful trees on the shore.
· October is the most beautiful time of it. The lake is crystal clear, with seven colors of leaves and reflections intertwined.
·The boardwalk on the west side of the lake is one of the best viewing spots. The terminal of the boardwalk is the outlet, which is the most concentrated area of colorful leaves.
Five colored Pool
·Located in the south section of Zechawa valley, it is the smallest and most gorgeous pool in jiuzhaigou, and it is not frozen in four seasons.
·The water is rich in calcium carbonate, so the lake is dappled with light and shadow. When there's sunlight, different positions and angles you will see different colors.
·The water in the pool is clear and transparent. Through the water, you can clearly see the texture of the rocks at the bottom of the pool.
· it is said that if the couple can go down the steps to the colorful pool, silently make a wish, and then climb the 189 steps, they will be able to love each other for life.
Pearl Shoals
·The largest calcareous waterfall in Jiuzhai, formed by the melting snow water in the mountains, rushes to the valley floor from a height of 21 meters.
· The Pearl Shoal is full of holes, in which the torrent hits and the splashing water falls like pearls in the sunlight, hence it is given the name "pearl shoal".
Nuorilang Waterfall
·In summer, when the water is at its peak, visitors can see the most spectacular waterfalls. In the middle of winter, there are mysterious ice falls.
·There is an observation deck opposite the waterfall, which is the best place to enjoy the panoramic view of the waterfall.
·The waterfall is located in the center of Jiuzhai Valley, and Tourism service centers are built around here.

General information
Jiuzhaigou Scenic area refers to the"Y"shaped three valleys of Shuzheng, Rize and Zechawa altogether covering an area of 720 square kilometers. It is a homeland for Tibetans and geologically a cold alpine Karst topography in nature. The mountain lakes,called"Haizi",shining like crystal mirror.At the upper most of Zechawa valley lies the Long Lake, while the Grass Lake is the end of Rize valley. The two valleys run down northward and join together at Nuorilang waterfall to form the beginning of Shuzheng valley.The height drop amounts to 1 000m or more from the joint of the two gullies to the outlet of Shuzheng Gully. Lining along the distance are 114 stepped lake between which are 17 waterfall groups(Waterfalls are the essence of the scenery in Jiuzhaigou)，11 torrents and 5 calcareous tufa shoals，forming"a heaven land under the sky" that features in alpine lake groups,waterfall groups,and calcareous tufa shoals，as well as snow mountains,virgin forests,and Tibetan folklore.
